The cool thing about these poses I sketched and rendered is that they received very little changes in the approvals process. It’s really cool to see the Miku that was basically in my brain now in a real game! My years drawing nothing but ‘loids has finally paid off 🤓

ANOTHER Rift of the Necrodancer character I designed! Say hello to Zad, or BeastMaster!
It was fun to interpret his more limited pixel art sprite into a fully fledged illustration! We went for a big, buff, and extroverted personal trainer with an 80’s flair. I have a really fond memory of the notes I received on him, summarized by: “more skin, please” 🤣
I feel like a rarely draw men, so this is nice to have proof that I do occasionally draw them. Especially if they wear crop tops and knee socks 🧦✨

Here is the last Rift of the NecorDancer boss (bosses?) that I made a human design for: Deep Blues!
They’re art critics, but I chose to take them in a slightly different direction than a typical runway fashion/artsy-fartsy design. I thought it would be fun to make them so full of themselves that they think only a CERTAIN decade is the best, and have that pretty much limit their artistic tastes. So, I chose the 1970’s!
Queen & King went through the most iterations compared to other bosses. Initially I tried making them look more like their boss counterparts, but then direction changed to make them appear MUCH different in silhouette and design. Lots of different 70’s apparel was experimented with too, and it was so fun doing that research! Eventually we landed on a “1970’s meets old money” type of look.
Which designs do YOU like? Do you miss King’s mustache? Did he play that funky music, white boy? (please get that reference)

Part 2 of the characters I designed for Rift of the NecroDancer: “Human” Matron!
Originally I designed her to be very similar to her “Boss” form, keeping her tall with really luscious hair. She was like a PTA Queen Bee from the 1950’s-1960’s!
After some back and forth we decided it would be fun to go the other direction, and make her super short (and even older). She definitely lives up to her name now, but still has an air of refinement. I also like how we kept her :> face, haha!

For Rift of the NecroDancer, I had the honor of designing all of the Boss characters “human forms”! But I have to say my favorite one out of them all is Reaper 💀📿👘
Basically the first design I pitched was a home run, and very little about her concepts had changed! I wanted her to feel very harmonious with Suzu’s design, so she too dresses with a mix of modern and classical Japanese fashion. My favorite detail is her headscarf, which keeps a rounded silhouette of her head, similar to her “Boss form”.
I can’t wait to share the other characters I designed ^_^ stay tuned!
